Tax Manager - Partner Track
Location: Middletown, CT
We're partnered with an independent Connecticut CPA firm providing audit and tax services to not-for-profit, small business, individual, and trust/estate clients. The Tax Manager is actively involved in both the preparation and review of 1120S, 1065, and 1041 returns, along with complex 1040s, and manages a portfolio of client relationships.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare and review 1120S, 1065, and 1041 returns, as well as complex individual (1040) returns
- Manage a portfolio of client relationships as the primary point of contact
- Plan and oversee tax engagements from kickoff through filing, including the September 15 and October 15 deadlines
- Supervise, train, and develop staff-level accountants
- Research tax issues and advise clients on planning strategies
- Use UltraTax to manage the return preparation and review process
What You'll Need:
- Active CPA license
- Public accounting tax experience with hands-on preparation and review responsibility, including S-corp, partnership, and trust/estate returns
- Experience with UltraTax or comparable tax preparation software
- Willingness to work an extended schedule during tax season, Monday through Saturday

- Partner Track: This is a partner-track role reporting directly to a partner who plans to retire within the next five years.
- Busy Season: Begins in late January. Managers work approximately 55 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, with Saturday capped at five hours.
- Client Mix: Caseload spans not-for-profit, small business, individual, and trust/estate work.
- Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000 depending on experience/qualifications
