Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Cross Country Education is seeking an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a Travel or Local contract position at a school in Santa Barbara County, CA.

Job Title: Special Education Teacher (TVI Endorsement) – K through 22

Location: Santa Barbara County, CA

Pay: Up to $70/hour

Schedule: Full-Time / Contract

What You’ll Do

Help students ages K–22 with visual impairments succeed in school and build independence across Santa Barbara County.

• Teach Key Skills: Provide direct instruction in Braille, Assistive Tech, and the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC).
• Adapt Materials: Turn everyday classroom materials into Braille, large print, or digital formats.
• Assess & Track: Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), write clear IEP goals, and run IEP meetings.
• Support Transitions: Guide older students (ages 18–22) as they transition to life after high school.
• Collaborate: Work closely with general ed teachers, parents, and O&M specialists to support each student.

What You Need

• Credential: Valid California Special Education Credential with a TVI (Visual Impairments) Endorsement (or state equivalent/eligibility).
• Strong knowledge of Braille and low-vision tech.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for visiting local school sites.
• Clear background check and TB test.
