CooperDouglas is partnering with a growing, multi-entity CPG company. This Accounting Manager carries hands-on ownership of the consolidated month-end close, account reconciliations, and process automation across the accounting function. The role manages a small team and plays a central part in building the structure, rigor, and reporting capability the organization needs at this stage of growth. This is a hybrid position in Los Angeles (Westside).
Responsibilities
- Build and own a structured monthly close process across multiple legal entities and currencies, targeting completion within eight business days.
- Develop and maintain all account reconciliations, establishing a reconciliation discipline that does not currently exist in the organization.
- Manage trade spend accounting end-to-end, including promotional allowances, customer deductions, chargebacks, and accruals, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation against trade promotion management systems.
- Support the development and automation of the 13-week cash flow forecast, partnering closely with the VP of Finance & Controller to transition ownership of this process.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP, supporting external auditors on technical accounting matters and disclosures.
- Manage foreign currency transactions, intercompany balances, and FX revaluation and remeasurement processes across multiple subsidiaries.
- Prepare management reporting packages and board-level financial materials, including margin analysis on a net revenue basis, that hold up under scrutiny.
- Drive process improvement and automation across the accounting function, leveraging the company’s ERP and integrated technology stack to reduce manual effort and increase analytical capacity.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, including a Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the annual audit following fiscal year-end, including coordination of audit fieldwork, PBC schedules, and timely resolution of auditor requests.
- Support ad hoc projects including system implementations, entity restructuring, and process automation initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of a month-end close process in a multi-entity environment. The organization is leaning toward experienced candidates who can operate with limited direction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Required Skills
- Experience with foreign currency transactions, FX exposure, and multi-currency consolidation.
- NetSuite experience highly preferred. Consumer packaged goods industry experience is a significant differentiator.
- Public accounting background is a big plus.
Pay range and compensation package
- Base salary of $150,000 to $170,000 + bonus
