Accounting Manager

A well-established, privately held organization on Chicago’s Northwest Side (Logan Square area) is looking to add an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller-level accounting professional to its team. This newly created position will add leadership depth between the Controller and the accounting staff.

The right person will be a hands-on accounting professional who can manage day-to-day accounting activities, provide oversight to the team, and step in to lead the accounting function when needed. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys a stable environment but can also bring new ideas and process improvements to an established organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and support the accounting team.
• Manage and review bank reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and related schedules.
• Oversee check processing and payment activities.
• Ensure real estate-related invoices and obligations are processed accurately and on time.
• Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Coordinate certificates of insurance and related administrative accounting requirements.
• Serve as a key accounting resource and provide leadership coverage when the Controller is unavailable.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general accounting and reconciliation processes.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
• Ability to oversee day-to-day accounting operations with limited supervision.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on accounting environment.
• Capable of providing leadership and direction to an established accounting team.

Work Setup/Location

• Five days per week onsite.

Compensation

• Target base salary: $115,000–$125,000.
