About the Opportunity

A well-established Oak Brook-based Multi-Family Office is seeking a Part-Time (3x a week) Accounting Manager. This is a hands-on role supporting entrepreneurial business owners and their families by managing a broad range of financial, administrative, and personal business matters.


The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor and financial steward, overseeing family accounting, wealth management activities, cash flow, trusts and estate matters, vendor relationships, and coordination with external advisors. This position requires exceptional discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Family Office Accounting & Financial Management

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, balance sheets, and related reporting for multiple family entities.
  • Perform and review monthly bank and investment account reconciliations.
  • Record, monitor, and review investment activity and portfolio transactions.
  • Manage family cash flow, monitor liquidity needs, and proactively communicate funding requirements.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and financial reports from both financial accounting and tax perspectives.
  • Assist with annual financial statement preparation and tax filing support.
  • Gather, organize, and provide 1099s and other tax documentation to external tax advisors.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense management processes.
  • Prepare travel and entertainment expense reports and related analyses.


Wealth Management & Family Administration

  • Manage day-to-day family financial affairs and personal accounting activities.
  • Coordinate bill payment and cash management for family members and related entities.
  • Support estate planning initiatives and administration of trusts.
  • Work closely with trustees, attorneys, insurance advisors, tax professionals, and wealth management partners.
  • Monitor insurance policies and ensure appropriate coverage and renewals are maintained.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between family members and external service providers.


Relationship & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with banks, investment custodians, vendors, and professional advisors.
  • Manage ongoing communications with individuals and organizations conducting business with the family.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally including both public accounting and private/family office environments.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, wealth management firms, or private investment organizations preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Quicken, TurboTax, and other financial management systems.
  • Understanding of trusts, estates, investment accounting, and tax reporting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
