iWorld Professionals is seeking an Affordable Housing Leasing & Compliance Specialist for our client, a well-established residential property management company in New York City. This is an onsite position in NYC.
Position Summary: In this role you will work directly with applicants and residents in managing leasing, eligibility, certifications, and ongoing compliance for affordable and middle-income housing programs.
Affordable Housing Leasing & Compliance Specialist Responsibilities:
- Conduct eligibility appointments and process affordable and middle-income housing applications.
- Calculate and verify applicant income and assets for certifications.
- Review documentation and obtain required third-party verifications.
- Determine applicant eligibility based on applicable program guidelines.
- Coordinate credit and background screening.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external compliance reviews.
- Support affordable housing lotteries and marketing/re-marketing activities.
- Conduct unit showings and lease signings.
- Prepare initial and renewal leases and process applicable subsidies.
Affordable Housing Leasing & Compliance Specialist Requirements:
- 1–2+ years of experience with LIHTC and/or Section 8 multifamily housing.
- Experience working with NYC and New York State housing agencies such as NYC HPD, NYC HDC, and NYS HCR/HFA.
- Working knowledge of NYC rent stabilization requirements.
- Experience using Yardi.
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist, Certified Occupancy Specialist, or similar housing certification preferred; ability to obtain certification within one year required.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work onsite in NYC.
