The Cook Group is seeking a mid-level Litigation Associate with approximately 3–6 years of experience to take an active role in litigating and defending mass tort, asbestos, toxic tort, product liability, and insurance defense matters in our growing Chicago Loop office. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced trial attorneys, develop sophisticated litigation skills, and grow within a collaborative national litigation platform.

What You’ll Do

• Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution

• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda

• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies

• Handle depositions, written discovery, and court appearances

• Prepare detailed reporting and communicate directly with clients and insurers

• Participate in trial preparation and litigation strategy development

• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex matters

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school

• Active admission to the Illinois State Bar required

• 3+ years of civil litigation experience required

• Experience with asbestos, toxic tort, insurance defense, product liability, or complex litigation strongly preferred

• Strong deposition, motion practice, and case management experience preferred

• Excellent writing, analytical, research, and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail

• Self-motivated while also thriving in a collaborative team environment
