Full job description

Coda Search is proud to partner with an institutional trading technology firm to hire an Associate, Institutional Equities Coverage. Candidates must be able to work from Stamford at least three days per week.

Location: Stamford, CT

Base Salary: Target $150-180K base salary, with some flexibility available dependent on experience.

Equity: Potential options or equity, subject to the final offer

Schedule: At least three days per week in Stamford. More frequent Stamford attendance is preferred during onboarding, with a more flexible hybrid pattern potentially available once fully ramped.

What's in it for you?

  • Earlier client ownership: Build direct relationships with institutional clients and take on meaningful coverage responsibility earlier than you might in a larger organization.
  • Clear commercial progression: Grow from supporting day-to-day coverage toward owning accounts, revenue responsibility, and a book of business.
  • Technical depth: Develop practical fluency in trading algorithms, execution analytics, order behavior, routing, venues, and auctions without needing to be a quant developer.
  • Visible impact: Work in a lean, research-driven environment where client feedback can directly shape priorities and product improvements.
  • Experienced colleagues: Learn alongside electronic-trading practitioners while contributing to a growing institutional equities business.

What will your day look like?

  • Partner on client coverage: Work closely with the equities coverage lead to support institutional clients and maintain reliable day-to-day desk coverage.
  • Answer execution questions: Help clients understand order behavior, execution outcomes, fills, routing, venue activity, and other trading-support issues.
  • Build platform fluency: Learn the firm's algorithms, analytics, and trading tools well enough to explain behavior clearly and respond credibly to client questions.
  • Analyze trading activity: Review strategy settings, order logic, fills, venue behavior, and auction participation to identify what happened and why.
  • Coordinate client-driven changes: Work with research and product colleagues to translate client needs into thoughtful adjustments and improvements.
  • Strengthen relationships: Build trust with institutional traders through responsive communication, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.
  • Grow into account ownership: Progress toward managing an account list, carrying revenue responsibility, and developing a book of business.

Who are you?

  • Equities foundation: You have professional experience working in equities. Electronic equities, algorithmic execution, market structure, or execution coverage experience is especially relevant.
  • Relevant experience level: Your background is likely in the 2-to-6-year range, although a strong analyst with 1 to 2 years of directly relevant experience will be considered.
  • Licensure: Current securities licensure is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Technical aptitude: You can learn how trading algorithms and execution systems behave, investigate client questions, and explain technical details clearly.
  • Client judgment: You communicate well with sophisticated institutional clients and bring emotional intelligence, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
  • Ownership mindset: You are curious, dependable, and comfortable operating in a small team without layers of support.
  • Stamford availability: You are able and willing to work from the Stamford office at least three days per week and spend additional time there during onboarding when practical.
