Full job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a growing team in the Morris County area. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and ensuring the timely completion of month-end activities. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Process invoices, payments, deposits, and expense reports
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
  • Process payroll and maintain payroll-related records
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting activities
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables and collections
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
  • Assist with audit requests and tax preparation support
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience
  • Experience managing AP, AR, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full-charge bookkeeping experience
  • Payroll processing experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses
