Role Description The Construction Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Bakersfield, CA, responsible for overseeing daily field operations on commercial and institutional construction projects. This role coordinates subcontractors, vendors, and field staff to ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. The superintendent monitors site safety and compliance, conducts regular inspections, and enforces company and regulatory safety requirements. Day-to-day tasks include managing project schedules, organizing site logistics, tracking materials and equipment, resolving field issues, and communicating progress with project managers, owners, and design teams. The role also involves maintaining detailed documentation such as daily reports, RFIs, change order logs, and ensuring effective collaboration among all project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Strong construction site management skills, including coordination of subcontractors and oversight of daily field activities.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations, with the ability to promote and enforce a safe work environment.
  • Solid organization skills for managing schedules, documentation, site logistics, and project records.
  • Experience with budgeting and cost control, including monitoring expenditures and supporting change management.
  • Proficiency in project management, including planning, sequencing work, and meeting milestones and deadlines.
  • Experience with commercial or institutional construction projects; healthcare or educational project experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and basic office applications.
  • Relevant field experience as a superintendent, foreperson, or similar role; industry certifications (e.g., OSHA 30) are a plus.
