Lead the Accounting Function for a Growing Manufacturing Organization

Our client, a well-established manufacturer and distributor, is seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting activities. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will play a critical leadership role in managing the accounting function, strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and supporting strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational reporting.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Support ERP optimization and reporting enhancements.
• Develop and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with operations leadership to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial visibility.

Required Qualifications

Must-Have Requirements

• CPA Required
• Public Accounting experience required (small to mid-sized CPA firm preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Prior leadership experience within accounting or finance

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing industry experience
• Experience working within product-based organizations
• Inventory and cost accounting experience
• ERP system experience
• Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) experience is a plus

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have started their career in public accounting, obtained their CPA, and transitioned into industry where they have gained hands-on leadership experience. Manufacturing experience is highly desirable, but candidates from other product-centric industries will also be considered.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on, partnering with leadership while ensuring accounting operations and financial reporting are executed at a high level.
