Full job description

We're seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing manufacturing organization. This role owns the close process, financial reporting, and internal controls, while serving as a strategic partner to plant and executive leadership on cost, margin, and operational performance. This is a strong opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader ready to take ownership of the finance function at a growing organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare and present financial statements to executive leadership and plant/branch management
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting across the organization
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform variance/flux analysis and communicate drivers behind results to leadership
  • Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costs, BOM accuracy, and overhead allocation
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies/procedures
  • Lead and manage external audit engagements and serve as primary point of contact
  • Monitor cash flow and support treasury/banking relationships as needed
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and plant leadership on cost and margin initiatives
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects for executive leadership


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA a plus
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, GAAP, cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Epicor, QAD, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to executive leadership
