Full job description

The Driver Recruitment & Retention Specialist is responsible for developing and executing the company’s driver recruiting and onboarding program. They create and manage a structured recruiting pipeline, drive hiring efforts for fleet growth and replacement needs, oversee the first 30 days of driver onboarding, and monitor retention outcomes to improve workforce stability and driver quality.


Duties

  • Develop and maintain a metrics-driven driver recruiting pipeline and candidate tracking system to support hiring, onboarding, and driver retention initiatives
  • Source qualified CDL drivers through job boards, referrals, networking, social media, industry recruiting channels, etc
  • Conduct candidate screening, interviews, and qualification reviews
  • Coordinate employment verification, MVR and PSP reviews, risk assessments, background checks, and pre-employment requirements
  • Maintain candidate communication and follow-up schedules
  • Achieve minimum hiring goals established by leadership
  • Support fleet growth by maintaining a continuous pipeline of qualified drivers
  • Provide leadership with weekly recruiting activity reports and hiring forecasts
  • Maintain recruiting metrics and hiring dashboards
  • Administer the company’s structured 30 day onboarding program
  • Coordinate the orientation schedules and onboarding activities
  • Conduct regular follow-up touchpoints during new hire period
  • Monitor 30-day and 90-dayretention results
  • Conduct exit interviews and collect feedback from drivers leaving
  • Recommend improvements to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention processes


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recruiting, talent acquisition, staffing, human resources, transportation, or related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and establish trust with candidates and employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, screen, and evaluate candidates effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple openings and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and candidate information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established hiring and compliance processes.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting CDL drivers or other transportation industry positions.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, MVR reviews, PSP reports, driver qualification files, and transportation hiring practices.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruiting dashboards, or recruiting metrics.
  • Experience conducting onboarding, orientation, employee engagement, or retention programs.
  • Familiarity with social media recruiting, job boards, referral programs, and other candidate sourcing methods.
  • Experience analyzing recruiting and retention data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
