Experienced Yard/Container Equipment Operator

Role Description This full-time, on-site Experienced Yard/Container Equipment Operator role is based in Gardena, CA. The operator will handle daily yard movements of containers and chassis, including loading, unloading, stacking, and positioning containers using heavy equipment such as reach stackers, top handler, yard goat and forklifts. Responsibilities include safely operating yard equipment, inspecting containers and equipment, and reporting any issues to maintenance staff. The role involves coordinating with yard clerk, drivers, and yard personnel to maintain organized yard operations and ensure timely container handling. The operator will follow all safety protocols, comply with company and regulatory requirements, and assist with general yard tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong equipment operation skills, including Heavy Equipment and Equipment Operation experience.
• Candidates should possess skills in Reach Stacker, Yard Goat and Forklift operations, including safe and efficient operations of equipment in a busy yard environment.
• Candidates should possess equipment maintenance skills, including basic Equipment Maintenance to identify and report mechanical issues.
• Candidates should possess experience with yard work or related tasks or similar site operations as applicable.
• Relevant qualifications include prior experience in container yards, ports, or freight operations; understanding of safety procedures and PPE use; and ability to read and follow yard and dispatch instructions.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include a valid driver’s license, strong attention to detail, reliability in shift-based work, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
