Human Resources Manager

San Jose, CA | $105,000/year

A leading organization in the accommodation and food services industry is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee unit-level HR operations and support frontline and supervisory teams.

This role will lead recruitment, staffing, onboarding, retention, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and employee development. The HR Manager will work closely with unit leadership to align people strategies with operational needs while promoting a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day HR activities supporting frontline employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Coordinate recruiting efforts to attract qualified candidates for operational positions.
  • Support interviewing, selection, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Identify retention challenges and implement strategies to improve employee engagement.
  • Coordinate training and development programs to strengthen employee capabilities and career growth.

Employee Relations

  • Manage employee relations matters with professionalism, consistency, and sound judgment.
  • Conduct or support workplace investigations and document findings appropriately.
  • Partner with management on performance issues, corrective actions, and disciplinary matters.
  • Help resolve workplace concerns while minimizing organizational and compliance risk.

Compliance & Policy

  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Communicate HR policies and programs effectively to employees and managers.
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and other compliance activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as an HR advisor to unit leadership and operational managers.
  • Provide guidance on staffing, employee performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Use workforce data and employee trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a workplace culture centered on service, safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in human resources, preferably within hospitality, food services, facilities, healthcare, retail, or another high-volume operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leaders.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters with discretion.
  • Experience supporting frontline and hourly workforces preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Work Environment

This is a unit-level HR leadership position supporting a fast-paced operational environment. The role requires regular interaction with employees, supervisors, managers, and unit leadership, with a strong focus on employee experience, operational support, compliance, and workforce effectiveness.
