The Opportunity
Our client, an established national law firm, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Specialist for its Los Angeles headquarters. This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day employee support with benefits administration, leave management, onboarding, compliance, and process improvement.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this individual will serve as a trusted resource for attorneys and professional staff throughout the employment lifecycle. The role also works closely with recruiting, payroll, benefits, finance, HR systems, and other business teams to provide consistent and responsive support across the firm's offices.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Guide employees through routine HR questions, internal processes, and workplace policies while handling each matter with professionalism and discretion.
- Coordinate benefit enrollments and employee changes, working with external providers to resolve coverage or administrative issues.
- Oversee the administrative aspects of employee leaves and workplace accommodations, including documentation, communication, and coordination related to FMLA and disability programs.
- Plan and facilitate orientation and onboarding activities so new attorneys and staff have a smooth and welcoming introduction to the firm.
- Help managers and employees understand firm policies and promote consistent practices across departments and locations.
- Coordinate employee departures, including required paperwork, internal notifications, access changes, and other transition details.
- Support staff hiring activities by assisting with job approvals, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and applicant communications.
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in electronic and physical formats and ensure documentation is retained appropriately.
- Prepare and process employee-change, payroll-related, unemployment, and other HR forms accurately and within required timeframes.
- Monitor developments in employment requirements and assist with updates to policies, procedures, and internal documentation.
- Partner with colleagues in recruiting, payroll, compensation and benefits, finance, and HR technology on shared initiatives and employee matters.
- Assist with the firm's performance-review cycle, HR projects, workflow enhancements, and other departmental priorities.
What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
- 4+ years of progressive HR experience within a law firm or professional-services industry(Accounting/Finance, Business Consulting, Architecture/Engineering, Tech, Legal, Marketing/PR) including support for more than one office.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits, leaves, onboarding, employment documentation, and general HR compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a polished, service-oriented approach.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail, particularly when handling confidential or time-sensitive information.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and a steady volume of employee needs without sacrificing accuracy.
- Sound judgment, resourcefulness, and a practical approach to resolving issues.
- Comfort working independently while remaining an engaged and dependable team partner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with ADP or a comparable HR platform is strongly valued.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred but not required.

The anticipated salary range is $75,000-$90,000, based on experience and qualifications.
