I'm currently working with an established California Employment & Labor practice looking to add a Senior Employment Litigation Attorney to its Downtown Los Angeles team.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants to take genuine ownership of complex employment matters, work directly with sophisticated clients and build a broader practice spanning litigation, trial work, workplace investigations and strategic employment counseling.

The Role

• Handle California Employment Defense litigation matters with substantial independence from inception through resolution.
• Take ownership of case strategy, litigation planning and key workstreams on complex matters.
• Draft pleadings, substantive motions, briefs and other significant litigation documents.
• Manage written discovery and overall discovery strategy.
• Take and defend depositions of parties and witnesses.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations and trial as matters progress.
• Advise employer clients on employment disputes, litigation risk and practical workplace issues.
• Gain exposure to employment counseling, compliance, workplace policies and management issues alongside contentious matters.
• Conduct or support workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other sensitive employee concerns.
• Work directly with clients and experienced senior attorneys, playing a visible role in the management and progression of significant matters.

About You

• 6+ years of Employment Litigation experience.
• Defense-side Employment Litigation experience is preferred, although strong plaintiff-side candidates will also be considered.
• Experience handling substantive Employment Litigation matters with increasing independence.
• Strong experience with motion practice, discovery and depositions.
• Experience developing case strategy and managing complex litigation responsibilities.
• Trial preparation and courtroom experience would be highly beneficial.
• Active California Bar admission in good standing.
• Strong legal research, writing and advocacy skills.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to provide practical, strategic advice to clients.
• Comfortable taking direct ownership of complex matters and client relationships.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Package

• Up to $205,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
