I'm currently working closely with the hiring team at a well-established, full-service law firm in San Jose that is actively investing in the continued growth of its Employment Litigation practice. This is an opportunity for an Employment Defense Associate to gain meaningful responsibility on California matters, build direct client relationships and develop toward partnership within a growing practice.

The Role:

• Handle California Employment Defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Assist with developing litigation strategy and advising employer clients.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs and other substantive legal documents.
• Manage written discovery and take on increasing responsibility for depositions, hearings and mediations.
• Conduct legal research and develop case-specific legal analysis.
• Communicate directly with clients and contribute to long-term client relationships.
• Take increasing ownership of Employment Litigation matters as your experience develops.
• Contribute to the continued growth of the firm's Employment practice.

About You:

• 2–5 years of legal experience, with flexibility for the right candidate.
• Active California Bar admission in good standing.
• Meaningful California Employment Law experience.
• Employment Defense and Litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing and advocacy skills.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with senior attorneys.
• Prior law firm experience.
• Stable employment history and demonstrated commitment to long-term development.
• Strong academic and professional background.
• Plaintiff-side experience considered where there is meaningful Employment Defense experience.

Location:

• San Jose, California.
• Hybrid working arrangement with regular in-office collaboration.

Package:

• Up to $200,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Performance-based bonus opportunities.
• Approximately 1,800 annual billable hours.
