Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal who is fully bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese to support the company’s U.S. legal, compliance, employment, and commercial matters.
This role will work closely with executive management, Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Operations, and external legal counsel. The Paralegal will also serve as an important liaison between the company’s U.S.-based teams and Mandarin-speaking executives and overseas teams, helping facilitate clear communication regarding U.S. legal, regulatory, contractual, and compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of relevant corporate legal or paralegal experience, strong knowledge of commercial contracts and employment-related legal matters, and the ability to independently manage legal documentation, research, compliance processes, and coordination with outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, organize, and assist with the negotiation of commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, service agreements, sales agreements, dealer/distributor agreements, and independent contractor agreements.
- Support management and internal departments with legal research, documentation, contract administration, and compliance matters.
- Partner with HR on employment-related legal matters, including documentation related to hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, PIPs, wage and hour matters, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, and employment policies.
- Conduct legal research regarding applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, particularly those affecting California business operations and employment practices.
- Support matters involving 1099 independent contractors and sales representatives, including agreements, commission structures, territory arrangements, classification documentation, and termination records.
- Assist with corporate governance matters, including corporate records, resolutions, entity documentation, internal policies, and compliance records.
- Maintain and organize contracts, legal records, corporate documents, and other confidential materials.
- Assist with disputes, claims, demand letters, regulatory inquiries, and litigation matters by gathering documentation, preparing records, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with outside counsel.
- Support intellectual property matters, including trademarks, confidentiality agreements, proprietary information, and related documentation.
- Review and assist with updating employee handbooks, company policies, compliance procedures, and internal documentation.
- Support legal and compliance matters related to new products, business expansion, sales channels, dealer relationships, partnerships, and other business initiatives.
- Coordinate directly with Mandarin-speaking executives and overseas teams regarding U.S. legal and compliance matters.
- Communicate and translate complex legal and business information between English-speaking and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders as needed.
- Coordinate with external attorneys and law firms, including preparing documents, gathering information, tracking legal matters, and managing communications.
- Assist with other corporate legal, compliance, and administrative matters as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law, Legal Studies, or a closely related legal field are required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, paralegal role, legal operations, compliance, or closely related legal function.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
- Strong experience with commercial contracts, legal documentation, legal research, and contract administration.
- Familiarity with U.S. employment law, corporate compliance, and general business legal matters.
- Strong legal research, analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple legal matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive legal and employee information with discretion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executives, HR, internal business teams, outside counsel, and overseas stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to work on-site at both the Perris and Irvine locations each week.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: On-Site / Split-Site Schedule
Work Location & Schedule
The standard weekly schedule will generally be:
- 3 days per week: 728 W Rider St., Perris, CA 92571
- 2 days per week: 300 Goddard, Irvine, CA 92618
Candidates must be able and willing to work from both locations each week. The specific days at each location may be adjusted based on business needs.
