Payroll Accountant

We are partnering with a highly respected global organization in the luxury travel space to hire a Payroll Accountant for its Chicago team.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on payroll and accounting position where you'll have exposure to both U.S. and international operations.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing and processing payroll for employees in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Ensuring payroll is completed accurately and on time.
  • Preparing payroll-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Reconciling payroll activity to the general ledger.
  • Reviewing payroll reports and researching discrepancies.
  • Managing payroll deductions, taxes, benefits, garnishments, and retirement-related activity.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with payroll-related audits and compliance requirements.
  • Working with employees and internal teams to answer payroll questions and resolve issues.
  • Partnering with outside payroll providers when necessary.
  • Helping improve payroll processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Assisting with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll activities.
  • Working closely with Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources.

What They're Looking For

  • Approximately 4–6 years of payroll and/or payroll accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with ADP is highly desirable.
  • International payroll exposure is a plus.
  • Understanding of payroll-related journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Someone organized who can manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative personality.
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team and providing great internal customer service.
