Senior Accountant | Premier Chicago Real Estate Developer

Our client, a highly respected and well-capitalized real estate development firm in downtown Chicago, is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its growing team.

The Senior Accountant will work a hybrid schedule, 3 days in office, 2 from home (weekly).

The Role

As the Senior Accountant, you'll oversee the accounting for assigned development projects from inception through completion. Responsibilities include financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliations, construction draws, project cost analysis, accruals, and month-end close. You'll also partner closely with project teams, finance, construction, legal, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and provide financial insight throughout the development lifecycle.

This role offers strong visibility within the organization and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, technology initiatives, operational reporting, and strategic financial analysis.


Ideal Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Approximately 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Real estate development, construction, property management, or project accounting experience is highly preferred public accounting with real estate experience will also work
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and construction/property accounting software is a plus
  • Self-motivated professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
