Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced President / General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of a growing equipment rental and support services business serving the bridge construction industry throughout the Northeast United States.

The company currently operates across 8 states and is looking to expand its footprint into the Southern U.S. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth while overseeing day-to-day operations, employees, equipment, assets, customers, and financial performance.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a strong combination of business development, operational management, people leadership, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the business and its multi-state operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to increase revenue, profitability, and market share.
  • Lead business development and sales efforts to identify and secure new customers and projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with bridge contractors, heavy civil contractors, infrastructure companies, and other key customers.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure equipment and personnel are effectively deployed to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage, develop, and retain employees, field personnel, operators, and management teams.
  • Oversee the company's equipment fleet and other assets, including utilization, maintenance, deployment, and replacement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment utilization, operational efficiency, and profitability.
  • Develop and execute the company's expansion strategy into the Southern U.S.
  • Monitor budgets, operating costs, margins, and overall financial performance.
  • Establish performance goals and ensure accountability across the organization.
  • Negotiate and maintain key customer and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Work closely with ownership to establish long-term business objectives and growth strategies.
  • Travel regularly to customer locations, operating sites, and new markets as required.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive management or executive leadership experience.
  • Experience in equipment rental, heavy civil construction, bridge construction, infrastructure services, or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of business development and revenue growth.
  • Experience managing multi-state operations.
  • Strong experience managing people, field operations, equipment, and company assets.
  • Understanding of equipment utilization, fleet management, maintenance, and deployment.
  • Strong financial and business management skills, including budgeting and P&L responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new markets and expand an established business.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Northeast and Southern U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with bridge contractors, DOT projects, heavy highway construction, or transportation infrastructure.
  • Established relationships within the bridge and heavy civil construction industry.
  • Experience managing a manned equipment rental or field-support services business.
  • Previous experience expanding operations into new geographic markets.

  • Lead the company's expansion into the Southern U.S.
  • Develop and execute market-entry strategies.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, hands-on business leader who can take ownership of both the commercial and operational sides of the organization.

A strong candidate may currently be a President, General Manager, VP of Operations, Regional Vice President, Division Manager, Business Unit Manager, or Operations Director within equipment rental, bridge construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, or a related industry.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable winning new business, managing people, overseeing assets, solving operational challenges, and driving company growth.
