Position Summary

Nelson Enterprise is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing services to the inmate population for our client, FCI Mendota. This role supports the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) by delivering safe, competent, and timely nursing care in a secure correctional environment.


Schedule / Shift Details

Shifts are typically:

· Eight (8) one-hour sessions per day

· Five (5) days per week Typical shift options include:

· 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, or

· 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Schedule may be adjusted based on institutional needs and will not normally exceed 40 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities The PRN Registered Nurse will:

· Provide direct nursing care within the Health Services Department

· Support medical operations for an inmate population in a correctional setting

· Follow facility policies, procedures, and all security requirements

· Respond appropriately to medical needs and emergencies

· Maintain professionalism and clinical standards at all times


Minimum Qualifications

· Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from any US State

· Three (3) or more years of nursing experience

· Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment


Required Certifications

· CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association


Required Credentials & Documentation Applicants must be able to provide verification of:

· Education and credentials

· Current license/status and competency

· Continuing education (as applicable)

· Proof of malpractice insurance

· Ability to pass a Federal background check
