Senior Accountant – Corporate & Investor Reporting

Industry: Commercial Real Estate / Real Estate Investment & Development

Location: Park Ridge, IL | Monday–Thursday In-Office

Compensation: 90k-100k Base + 20% Bonus

Company Overview

Our client is a growing commercial real estate investment and development firm specializing in industrial properties across major U.S. markets. The company focuses on acquiring and owning mission-critical Industrial Outdoor Storage (IOS) facilities, a specialized segment of industrial real estate characterized by significant outdoor storage components. The platform is backed by institutional capital and currently operates through two active investment vehicles — a discretionary fund and a separate-account joint venture — with more than $425 million in committed equity targeting over $1 billion of value-add and core-plus acquisitions nationwide.

The Opportunity

The Senior Accountant – Corporate & Investor Reporting will join a growing real estate investment platform and work closely with the CFO, taking ownership of key financial reporting, investor reporting, debt compliance, and joint venture accounting responsibilities.

This is not a traditional property accounting position. The role sits closer to the corporate and investment side of the organization and provides exposure to the full financial structure of the firm's real estate investment vehicles. The Senior Accountant will oversee work performed by third-party accounting and fund administration providers, review quarterly financial statements and investor reporting, support capital calls and distributions, assist with debt and treasury activity, and participate in audit and tax processes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Investor Communications

  • Maintain reporting calendars and help oversee the financial reporting process across joint ventures and corporate entities.
  • Review quarterly financial statements and supporting reporting packages.
  • Review investor capital account statements (PCAPs), management fee calculations, and waterfall models.
  • Prepare quarterly investor communications highlighting portfolio activity and financial results.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from investors and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and consistent across the firm's investment structures.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Support the annual financial statement audit and tax filing process.
  • Assist with quarterly tax estimates and related reporting requirements.
  • Manage quarterly debt compliance responsibilities and ensure required deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Coordinate with executive leadership, auditors, tax providers, investors, lenders, and other third parties.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and support for financial reporting and compliance requirements.

Capital, Treasury & Fund Administration

  • Support the management of debt and equity capital activity across the investment platform.
  • Prepare borrowing requests and coordinate paydowns related to revolving credit and subscription facilities.
  • Coordinate capital calls and investor distributions with third-party fund administrators.
  • Manage treasury activities, including new bank-account setup and ongoing bank administration.
  • Partner with outsourced accounting providers and oversee aspects of the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Review information prepared by external accounting and fund administration partners for completeness and accuracy.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Finance

  • Partner directly with the acquisitions and property management teams on accounting and operational matters.
  • Support analysis related to new financing structures and debt arrangements.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and FP&A initiatives.
  • Contribute to financial and strategic presentations for investors and the Board.
  • Provide accounting and finance support as the investment platform and portfolio continue to grow.
  • Take ownership of special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
  • Background in commercial real estate, real estate investment, private equity real estate, fund accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax, or fund administration preferred.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statements.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing financial reporting packages.
  • Exposure to joint ventures, investor reporting, fund accounting, capital activity, or real estate accounting is highly valuable.
  • Ability to review and understand complex financial and business documents.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Yardi experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple deadlines and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities and operating independently with limited oversight.

Preferred Target Backgrounds

Candidates coming from commercial real estate investment firms, real estate private equity firms, developers, institutional property owners, fund administrators, or public accounting firms with real estate clients should translate particularly well.

Experience involving corporate accounting, investor reporting, fund/JV accounting, financial reporting, or real estate audit is especially relevant.

Why This Opportunity

  • Join a growing, institutionally backed commercial real estate investment platform focused on a specialized segment of the industrial real estate market.
  • Exposure to a platform with $425M+ of committed equity targeting more than $1B in real estate investments.
  • Work directly with the CFO and gain meaningful visibility with senior leadership.
  • Broader responsibilities than a traditional Senior Accountant position, spanning corporate accounting, investor reporting, joint ventures, debt, treasury, fund administration, and strategic finance.
  • Direct exposure to investors, lenders, auditors, tax providers, and fund administrators.
  • Opportunity to work alongside the acquisitions and property management teams, providing greater visibility into the investment and operating sides of commercial real estate.
  • Participate in higher-level initiatives involving financing structures, cash flow forecasting, FP&A, and Board/investor presentations.
  • Entrepreneurial environment where the Senior Accountant can take ownership and make a visible impact as the platform continues to scale.
