Senior Cost Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing accounting to support financial planning, inventory control, cost analysis, and operational decision-making. This role will be responsible for analyzing product costs, maintaining standard costing, monitoring inventory transactions, supporting month-end close, and partnering with plant and operations leadership to improve cost efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead
• Prepare and review cost accounting reports, including variance analysis, inventory reconciliations, and manufacturing performance metrics
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide recommendations to management
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost accounting
• Reconcile inventory balances, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory records
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to evaluate production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual standard cost updates
• Monitor bill of materials, routings, and production data for accuracy in the ERP system
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
• Prepare audit schedules and assist with internal and external audits
• Develop and improve cost accounting processes, reporting tools, and system efficiencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience, with significant exposure to a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and cost allocations
• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally with finance and operations teams
