Senior Accountant – Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization. This role is well suited for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, partnering with operations, and contributing to both day-to-day financial accuracy and long-term business improvement. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, inventory and cost analysis, month-end close, and process optimization across the manufacturing function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement support
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory activity, and production-related variances
- Support cost accounting functions, including standard costing, product costing, and overhead analysis
- Review raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory balances for accuracy
- Partner with plant and operations leadership to better understand cost drivers and business performance
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and capital expenditure tracking
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Help strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and GAAP
- Support external audits and provide required schedules and documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and cross-functional workflows
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting principles
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
