This is a highly visible role that will own end-to-end payroll operations for a multi-state workforce while serving as the internal subject matter expert. Mostly remote but local candidates only.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both execution and improvement—someone who can confidently manage payroll while also driving process enhancements, system optimization, and compliance initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and process semi-monthly payroll for a diverse employee population, including leadership and complex compensation structures
  • Manage and maintain payroll data within ADP Workforce Now (or similar platform)
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state requirements
  • Act as the go-to resource for all payroll-related questions, issues, and investigations
  • Lead new hire payroll onboarding, including timekeeping and pay practices education
  • Partner closely with HR and Finance leadership to identify risks and improve processes
  • Take ownership of payroll-related projects (system upgrades, integrations, vendor transitions)
  • Continuously improve workflows through automation and process enhancements
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports (earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits)
  • Support reconciliations and financial reporting as needed
  • Ensure timely and accurate remittance of benefits and retirement contributions
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience in a complex environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, wage & hour laws, and best practices
  • Experience in professional services environments is a plus
  • CPP certification required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • Advanced experience with ADP Workforce Now (or similar systems)
  • Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident communicator who can collaborate across all levels of the organization

Why This Opportunity:

  • Competitive compensation: $120K–$150K base salary
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, FSA/HSA, disability
  • Investment in your growth through professional development programs
  • Hybrid flexibility
  • Collaborative, high-performing team environment with strong leadership support
