LHH is partnering with an innovative technology company seeking a Payroll Accountant / Payroll Analyst to join their team during an exciting period of growth and transformation. This is a highly visible role where you'll have the opportunity to own payroll operations, partner cross-functionally, and contribute to process improvements that support a growing workforce.

What You'll Do:
- Process bi-weekly payroll in Paylocity
- Audit payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits
- Manage timecard reviews and payroll approvals
- Support payroll-related activities including benefits, workers' compensation, and employee reimbursements
- Review and approve employee expense reports
- Identify discrepancies, research issues, and recommend solutions
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and support general ledger activity
- Generate payroll and financial reports for Accounting, Finance, and People Operations teams
- Partner closely with HR regarding new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and employee data updates
- Assist with audits, compliance reporting, and internal controls
- Contribute to payroll process optimization initiatives and system improvements
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including exposure to accounting functions
- Experience with Paylocity, Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar payroll platforms
- Strong knowledge of California payroll laws and compliance requirements
- Solid understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger processes
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting
- Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of critical processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting a technology, SaaS, software, or high-growth company
- Multi-state payroll experience
- Exposure to stock compensation, equity administration, or employee incentive programs
- CPP certification (or working toward certification)
- Experience participating in payroll system implementations, integrations, or process improvement initiatives
