Senior Staff Accountant

Playa Vista, CA | Hybrid – 1 Day Onsite/Week

Full-Time | Nonprofit / Public-Interest Technology

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join a mission-driven, international nonprofit organization focused on supporting a secure, stable, and globally interoperable Internet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain and analyze General Ledger accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting.
  • Apply accounting guidance related to ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 842 (Leases).
  • Assist with annual audits and provide supporting schedules and documentation to external auditors.
  • Analyze account activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and other departments to improve processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Support accounting activities involving international operations and stakeholders.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and General Ledger accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
  • Exposure to ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Service-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate across departments and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA candidate/tracking toward certification.
  • Public accounting or external audit experience.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • International accounting experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion.
  • Experience with Concur.
