Senior Staff Accountant

Our client, a commercial real estate company based in RI, is hiring a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This is a great fit for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and looking for a stable, direct-hire role with an established organization.

Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Position Summary

This role manages the general ledger, reconciles accounts for semi-annual reporting packages, and handles tenant CAM (Common Area Maintenance) invoicing across a portfolio of commercial real estate entities. You'll work closely with property and lease data to keep charges accurate and reporting on track, so strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills matter.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for multiple commercial real estate entities, including intercompany transactions with related parties.
• Prepare journal entries and support month-end and period-end close processes.
• Abstract key lease terms for new tenants and lease amendments, ensuring charges and terms are accurately reflected in the accounting system.
• Monitor tenant move-ins/move-outs and receivable aging, preparing delinquency notifications and maintaining organized tenant communication records to support lease compliance.
• Support management with ad-hoc financial accounting requests and reports.

Qualifications of the Senior Accountant:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience in commercial real estate or construction accounting, with exposure to commercial operating lease contracts, preferred.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
