Our client, a stable local employer, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Corporate Accountant to support accounting operations and financial reporting activities. This role is responsible for helping ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements while playing a key role in the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, technical accounting research, and audit support.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Analyze financial results and account fluctuations, providing clear explanations and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Reconciliations & Analysis
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, variances, and unusual transactions.
- Maintain accuracy of prepaid expenses, accruals, and other key working capital accounts.
- Perform variance analysis and communicate insights to management.
Technical Accounting & Compliance
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Support adherence to corporate accounting procedures and best practices.
Audit Support
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit requests.
- Assist with annual audits, reviews, and regulatory examinations.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and internal controls.
- Support initiatives that improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Operations, and other internal teams.
- Provide accounting guidance related to business initiatives and transactions.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems., SAP a distinct plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting experience, ideally with a large regional or national firm.
- Experience supporting financial planning and analysis activities.
