Position: Staff Accountant
Location: Pennsauken, NJ (onsite)
Hours: Approximately 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with some flexibility
Salary: $65,000-$75,000
An established food and beverage manufacturer is seeking an Accountant to join their close-knit team! Following a recent acquisition, the organization is expanding its accounting function and offering the new hire an opportunity to take on broader responsibilities as the business evolves.
This is a hands-on, month-end-focused position responsible for general accounting, inventory and production-cost analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, direct cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently with limited oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close schedules.
- Analyze production costs, inventory costs, margins, and cost variances.
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting records and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare cost reports and provide financial data to support pricing and operational decisions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports.
- Process and review invoices and provide support related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Partner with operations and procurement teams to identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
- Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist with the organization’s transition from Sage 100 to NetSuite.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Approximately 2+ years of accounting experience with inventory exposure.
- Cost accounting experience within a manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory costing, and margin analysis.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
