Superintendent (Big Box Retail/T.I.)

A well-established Top ENR General Contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee large-scale Tenant Improvement projects for nationally recognized Big Box Retail clients throughout the Long Beach and greater Southern California market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with a strong background leading occupied and non-occupied retail renovations, store expansions, remodels, and tenant improvements for major retailers such as Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowe's, Target, Walmart, Costco, and similar national brands. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects up to $20M in value from site mobilization through project completion while maintaining strict schedules and minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all field operations for large-scale Big Box Retail Tenant Improvement and renovation projects

• Manage and coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and consultants

• Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with Project Management teams

• Lead daily jobsite operations, including safety, quality control, logistics, and subcontractor coordination

• Coordinate phased construction activities and work within occupied retail environments when required

• Conduct project meetings, safety meetings, and progress updates with internal and external stakeholders

• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents

• Identify and proactively resolve field issues, conflicts, and scheduling challenges

• Coordinate inspections, punch list activities, turnover, and project closeout efforts

• Maintain strong relationships with clients, tenants, store management teams, and project stakeholders

• Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff while promoting a positive jobsite culture

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of Superintendent experience within commercial construction

• Strong background managing Big Box Retail Tenant Improvement, renovation, and expansion projects

• Experience with retailers such as Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowe's, Target, Walmart, Costco, or similar national retail brands preferred

• Proven ability to manage projects ranging from $2M–$20M from mobilization through completion

• Experience working within occupied facilities and maintaining operations during construction activities

• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, safety compliance, quality control, and retail turnover requirements

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Proficient with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software
