Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of direct reports to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Review the monthly financial statement packages and enforce all deadlines for accounting and financial statement distribution
- Prepare/review annual escalation and settlement billings for CAM, RET and other applicable additional charges
- Provide training, coaching and counseling to new and existing team members as needed. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives; monitor and advise on progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Provide annual and mid-year performance evaluations for team members and input related to salary increases, bonuses, promotions, etc.
- Address and document personnel issues related to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc. Escalate performance issues through the appropriate channels as necessary and participate in the design and delivery of Performance Improvement Plans if needed.
- Participate in hiring process for new team members; review pre-screened resumes, interview potential employees and provide input on hiring decisions for team.
- Approve time-off requests and coordinate schedules of team members.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department. Responsible for understanding, monitoring and altering workloads of team members.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Collaborate with EVPs of Accounting, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Managers, and other Accounting Managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Interface professionally with building management and owner representatives on financial and operational issues
- Complete special projects as needed
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/education required
- 4+ years of previous real estate accounting experience required
- 2+ years of previous supervisory experience required
- Must be detail-oriented, accurate and reliable with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge and expertise in real estate software, Yardi preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft based software, especially Excel
$100,000 - $125,000 salary range, based on experience plus benefits and bonus.
