Role Description The Area Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, OR, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across a portfolio of self storage properties. This role includes leading and supporting property teams, monitoring occupancy and revenue trends, and ensuring consistent execution of operational standards. The Area Manager will review financial and operational reports, guide pricing and promotional strategies, and implement process improvements to optimize performance. Duties also involve conducting regular site visits, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and maintaining high levels of customer service and facility presentation. The Area Manager will collaborate closely with corporate leadership, development, and acquisitions teams to support new property openings, integration of technology platforms, and achievement of regional performance targets.
Qualifications
- Strong property or multi-site operations management experience, preferably in self storage, commercial real estate, or a related field.
- Demonstrated skills in team leadership, coaching, and performance management across multiple locations.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial and operational metrics, including budgets, revenue, expenses, and occupancy trends.
- Experience using technology platforms and management systems to drive operational efficiency and transparency.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills for working with on-site teams, customers, and partners.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and travel regularly between properties within the assigned area.
- Knowledge of basic leasing, sales, and customer service practices that support lease-up and stabilization goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent site visits.
- Experience in a fast-growing, technology-enabled operating environment is a plus.
