Associate Attorney

Robert Half is partnering with a respected Chicago-based litigation firm to identify a Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking substantive litigation experience, a collaborative work environment, and a flexible hybrid schedule.

The firm represents clients in a variety of complex civil litigation matters, including insurance coverage, construction, professional liability, municipal, labor and employment, product liability, and general liability defense matters. Attorneys are given meaningful responsibility and direct client exposure, with opportunities to handle cases from inception through trial preparation.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage a litigation caseload through all phases of the litigation process
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
• Conduct legal research and prepare coverage opinions
• Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions
• Draft and argue dispositive motions
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial strategy
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers
• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff in a team-oriented environment

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Illinois law license in good standing
• 3+ years of litigation experience
• Experience handling civil defense, insurance coverage, construction, professional liability, or related litigation matters preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Proven ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines
