Full job description
A well-established construction and electrical services organization in San Francisco is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support high-volume accounts payable operations and union-focused payroll processing. This is a highly visible role within a collaborative accounting team and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
The right candidate will bring strong construction accounting experience, expertise in union and prevailing wage payroll, and exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process high-volume vendor invoices (200+ invoices per day)
- Review and match invoices to purchase orders and project costs
- Manage subcontractor payables and vendor relationships
- Ensure accurate coding and job cost allocations
- Reconcile vendor statements, bank accounts, and credit card transactions
- Support month-end reconciliations and accounting activities
Payroll:
- Process weekly payroll for union field employees
- Administer prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
- Reconcile union reports and deductions
- Support labor cost reporting and project tracking
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable and Payroll experience
- Construction industry accounting experience
- Union payroll and prevailing wage experience
- Certified payroll experience
- Sage 300 (Timberline) experience
- Strong understanding of job costing and cost accounting
- Experience with account reconciliations
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred:
- ADP experience
- Remarcable experience
- Electrical, construction, contractor, or trades industry background
- Experience working in a high-volume AP environment
