Position: Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York, NY 10011
Job Type: Contract
Contract: 8 weeks with strong possibility of extension
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | 5 days/week
Guaranteed hours per week: 40.00
Pay: Up to $44/hour
Job Summary
Pride Health is seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician for a contract opportunity in New York, NY. The technician will assist ophthalmologists by performing diagnostic eye tests, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring efficient clinical workflow in a busy eye care setting.
Responsibilities
• Perform preliminary eye examinations including visual field, ocular motility, color vision, and pupil testing
• Conduct tonometry and other diagnostic procedures to assess intraocular pressure
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during procedures
• Collect and document patient medical history and clinical data
• Coordinate patient flow and schedule diagnostic tests and procedures
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
• Sterilize instruments and prepare rooms for procedures
• Assist with minor office surgeries and laser treatments as needed
• Ensure proper inventory and stocking of supplies
Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic procedures
• Excellent communication and patient care skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in ophthalmology or eye care clinics
• Familiarity with ophthalmic instruments (slit lamp, tonometer, keratometer, etc.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
