Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 + 10-15% bonus

Location: Downtown, San Diego

Opportunity

Our client is a growing multi-unit restaurant and hospitality group seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a lean, highly visible role where you will operate as the sole accounting and finance professional while partnering closely with Operations, HR, Marketing, General Managers, and Chefs across the organization.

The current Controller is transitioning out and will be available for a short knowledge-transfer period, creating an opportunity for the incoming Controller to step into the role with a smooth transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reporting
• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations
• Oversee daily sales reporting and revenue tracking across multiple locations
• Manage inventory accounting and reporting
• Oversee AP and payroll reporting
• Maintain the general ledger and review intercompany activity
• Support external audits and other accounting-related requests
• Provide store-level and consolidated financial reporting
• Partner with Operations leadership to improve financial visibility and business performance

Qualifications

• Multi-unit restaurant or hospitality accounting experience
• Strong month-end close and financial reporting experience
• QuickBooks experience
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong reconciliation and general ledger experience
• Ability to work independently in a lean, department-of-one environment
• Prior Controller experience
• Experience supporting multiple restaurant concepts or locations
• Inventory accounting experience
• External audit support experience
