The Opportunity

Illapa Search are working with a leading international law firm seeking an experienced Mergers & Acquisitions Associate to join its highly regarded Corporate & Securities practice in their San Francisco office.


You will work on complex domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, advising buyers, sellers and financial advisers across a broad range of sophisticated matters. From the outset, you will have meaningful responsibility and direct client exposure, working closely with experienced partners and colleagues throughout the lifecycle of transactions. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of significant aspects of deals, from initial due diligence through to negotiation, documentation and closing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating documentation for complex M&A and private equity transactions.
  • Acting as a key member of transaction teams and taking responsibility for significant workstreams.
  • Preparing acquisition, equity and related transactional documentation.
  • Managing key aspects of transactions from due diligence through to closing.
  • Working directly with clients, counterparties and advisers.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the wider Corporate & Securities practice.


About You!

  • 4–7 years of relevant practice experience in M&A and/or private equity.
  • Strong hands-on drafting and negotiation experience.
  • Experience working on sophisticated M&A transactions and related documentation.
  • The ability to manage significant aspects of transactions from due diligence through closing.
  • Excellent technical, commercial and communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • The confidence and ability to take meaningful responsibility and client-facing ownership.
