Full job description
Modesto, CA | Relocation Considered | $180,000–$215,000 + Bonus
An established manufacturing organization is looking for a Director of Maintenance to lead and strengthen its maintenance organization across a complex, multi-shift, high-volume manufacturing environment.
This is a people-first leadership role for someone who knows how to build strong maintenance teams, improve equipment reliability, and move an organization from reactive maintenance to a disciplined, proactive reliability culture.
Relocation to Modesto will be considered for the right candidate.
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance leaders and skilled maintenance teams.
- Establish accountability, performance expectations, and development plans throughout the maintenance organization.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Safety, Quality, HR, and Finance to align maintenance priorities with business objectives.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of TPM and Reliability-Centered Maintenance practices.
- Establish and improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
- Use KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, downtime, and maintenance costs to drive decisions and improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for chronic equipment problems and performance losses.
- Drive the organization from reactive "fix it when it breaks" maintenance toward proactive, data-driven reliability.
- Oversee maintenance budgets, cost control, and capital planning input.
- Support equipment installations, capital projects, and technology upgrades.
- Champion safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Travel approximately 20% as needed to support company initiatives and alignment across operations.
- 10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of multi-site or enterprise-level maintenance leadership experience.
- Proven experience leading and developing people—not simply managing equipment and maintenance schedules.
- Strong working knowledge of TPM, reliability, preventive/predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated success improving equipment uptime, reliability, productivity, and maintenance performance.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Operations, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
Corrugated, packaging, paper, or related manufacturing experience is preferred, but this is not limited to those industries.
We will also consider strong maintenance leaders from other high-volume manufacturing environments, including:
- Plastics / extrusion
- Food & beverage
- Automotive
- Other complex, high-volume manufacturing operations
Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous-improvement methodologies is a plus.
We're looking for someone who can do more than keep equipment running.
The ideal candidate is a strategic maintenance leader and people developer who can build a strong team, partner effectively with Operations, establish reliability discipline, and create measurable improvements in safety, uptime, throughput, and cost.
If you're an experienced maintenance leader ready to make a significant impact in a high-volume manufacturing environment, I'd like to hear from you.
$180,000–$215,000 base salary + bonus eligibility
- Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.
