Licensed Practical Nurse

Seeking a qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide supportive and restorative nursing care in a structured clinical environment. The LPN will work under the direction of an RN or authorized healthcare provider, assisting with medication administration, treatments, IV therapy, patient preparation, documentation, and activities of daily living. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the LPN scope of practice under the direction of an RN or authorized healthcare provider.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting comfort, dignity, safety, and independence.
• Administer prescribed medications and perform routine treatments, including suctioning and urinary catheterization.
• Prepare patients for surgeries, diagnostic tests, examinations, and other medical procedures.
• Perform IV therapy-related duties, including preparing equipment and administering solutions through peripheral access devices.
• Collect, label, and process patient specimens accurately according to established procedures.
• Administer blood or blood products when appropriately trained and authorized.
• Monitor patients, recognize changes in condition, and promptly report significant observations, treatments, medications, incidents, and accidents to the RN.
• Reinforce patient and family education provided through the nursing care plan.
• Provide emotional support and assist with patient rehabilitation according to established care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the appropriate medical record.
• Assist with emergency and resuscitative procedures, including BLS interventions, as directed by the emergency response team.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the New York State Department of Health.
• Completion of an approved educational program for LPN licensure.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Successful completion of the required New York State IV Therapy Initial Program demonstrating competency in IV therapy and blood administration procedures.
• Completion of required annual unit-based IV therapy competency reviews and updates.
• Demonstrated competency in medication administration, patient care, documentation, and routine nursing procedures.
• Ability to perform IV therapy and related peripheral access procedures within scope of practice.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively under RN supervision.
• Ability to provide compassionate, safe, and patient-centered care.

Important Details:

• 13-week contract position
• Shift is 7.5 hrs/day (9:00 AM-5:00 PM), 37.5 hrs/week
• Location is New York, NY 10001
• Pay Rate for Locals: $40 - $44 Hourly
• Pay Rate for Travelers: $1,800 - $1,850 Weekly
