Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg to provide high-quality, comprehensive bedside care in an acute-care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience, strong clinical assessment skills, and experience with medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and post-operative care. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, educate patients and families, maintain patient safety and nursing standards, and must be flexible and willing to float to units of equal competency, including the ED holding area for stable admitted patients, as needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans while providing comprehensive bedside care to medical/surgical and pre- and post-operative patients.
  • Perform physical assessments, monitor vital signs and patient conditions, recognize/report changes, and monitor telemetry for significant rhythm changes.
  • Safely administer and document medications, manage IV therapy, perform catheterization, provide wound care, and follow infection-control practices.
  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment and provide post-operative care while identifying and responding to potential complications.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, medical charts, and nursing documentation while adhering to nursing standards, policies, procedures, and patient-safety protocols.
  • Remain flexible to float to units of comparable competency, including the ED holding area for stable admitted patients, as needed.


Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited educational institution required.
  • Active New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
  • AHA BLS required.
  • AHA ACLS required for applicable locations/assignments.
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.
  • Recent experience in a large acute-care hospital.
  • Strong telemetry and post-operative nursing experience.
  • Flexibility: Candidates must be willing to float to areas of equal competency based on staffing needs.


Important Details:

  • 14-week contract position
  • Shift is 11.5 hrs/night (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 34.5 hrs/week
  • Location is Brooklyn, NY 11235
  • Pay Rate for Locals: $54 - $57 Hourly
  • Pay Rate for Travelers: $2,200 - $2,250 Weekly
