Full job description
Seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive bedside care to adult patients in an acute or post-acute setting. The RN will manage pre- and post-operative patients, administer medications and IV therapies, monitor telemetry, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Provide direct bedside nursing care to pre- and post-operative patients.
- Administer and accurately document prescribed medications and IV therapies.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheterization, and IV insertion.
- Monitor vital signs, telemetry, and patient responses to treatments.
- Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment as required.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition or adverse medication reactions.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatments, medications, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate patient charts, medical records, and clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams on treatment and discharge planning.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in an acute or post-acute care setting.
- Recent Med/Surg experience within the past year required.
- Strong skills in physical assessment, medication administration, wound care, infection control, and IV therapy.
- Experience with post-operative care and telemetry monitoring.
- Epic EMR experience preferred.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited institution.
- Active New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
- AHA BLS required.
- AHA ACLS required for applicable Queens assignments.
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, patient education, and teamwork skills.
Important Details:
- 14-week contract position
- Shift is 11.5 hrs/days (7:00 AM-7:30 PM), 34.5 hrs/week
- Location is New York, NY 10016
- Pay Range for Local: $54 - $57 per hour
- Pay Range for Traveler: $2,200 - $2,250 per week
