Position: Mental Health Clinician

Location: East Elmhurst, NY 11370

Job Type: Contract

Contract: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 21, 2026

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Guaranteed Hours per Week: 35

Pay: Local: $60 to $63/hourly on W2

Travel: $2400 to $2500/weekly


Job Summary

Pride Health is seeking a qualified Mental Health Clinician for a contract opportunity in East Elmhurst, NY. The Mental Health Clinician will provide quality mental health care to incarcerated adult men who need and/or want behavioral health services.

The clinician will conduct mental health evaluations and assessments, provide crisis intervention and follow-up care, coordinate appropriate patient dispositions, participate in treatment planning and case conferences, and collaborate with multidisciplinary and correctional health teams.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and assessments.
  • Provide crisis intervention and follow-up care.
  • Determine and coordinate patient disposition for the appropriate level of mental health care.
  • Coordinate discharge planning services with reentry social workers.
  • Complete required statistical reports and clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with correctional health teams to facilitate patient access, appropriate housing, and treatment disposition.
  • Coordinate patient care with other institutional programs.
  • Develop and lead group treatment sessions on mental health observation units and other assigned units.
  • Participate in clinical supervision at least once per week.
  • Participate in mental health and medical rounds as assigned.
  • Participate in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving or being considered for mental health treatment.
  • Conduct psychological testing when assigned.
  • Supervise social work interns or student volunteers when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Chief, Assistant Unit Chief, or Clinical Supervisor.


Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required.
  • Valid New York State professional licensure in one of the following:
  • New York State License in Social Work
  • License in Mental Health Counseling
  • Licensure in Psychology
  • Experience conducting mental health evaluations and patient assessments.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and follow-up care.
  • Strong clinical documentation and treatment-planning skills.
  • Ability to coordinate patient disposition and discharge planning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with adults with behavioral health concerns.
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use histories.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe mental illness.
  • Inpatient or related behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Experience with substance use treatment.
  • Experience with group treatment development.
  • Experience with psychological testing.
  • Experience participating in case conferences and clinical supervision.


The requisition specifically gives preference to candidates with experience assessing and treating adults with behavioral problems, substance use histories, and severe mental illness, as well as inpatient or related experience.
