About the role
As a Personal Lines Insurance Account Manager, you’ll be the primary day-to-day contact for a book of personal lines clients, handling all aspects of policy servicing, renewals, and client communication. You’ll work closely with producers and carrier partners to place, maintain, and improve coverage while delivering a high-touch client experience.
This is a hybrid position: team members work in the office 2-3 days per week for collaboration, training, and client or carrier meetings, and may work remotely the remaining days.
Compensation range: $80,000-$100,000
Key responsibilities
- Manage an assigned book of personal lines accounts (home, auto, umbrella, and related coverages), serving as the main point of contact for clients.
- Handle day-to-day service requests including coverage questions, billing inquiries, ID cards, mortgagee changes, and evidence of insurance
- Process policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and new business in accordance with agency and carrier guidelines.
- Review new and renewal policies for accuracy in rating, coverage, forms, and documentation; request corrections as needed.
- Proactively manage renewals by reviewing coverage, identifying gaps or improvements, remarketing when appropriate, and preparing renewal summaries or proposals.
- Assist clients with claim reporting and follow-up, coordinating with carriers to help ensure timely and fair resolution.
- Maintain accurate, organized electronic files and documentation of all client interactions in the agency management system.
- Identify and pursue rounding and cross-sell opportunities (e.g., umbrellas, valuables, flood, personal articles, or referrals to other departments), in partnership with producers.
- Stay current on carrier products, underwriting appetite, and market trends to provide informed recommendations to clients.
- Adhere to agency procedures, E&O best practices, and applicable state insurance regulations in all servicing activities.
Qualifications
- 1-5 years of personal lines insurance agency or carrier experience in a client-service or account management role preferred.
- Active license in Illinois is required.
- Experience working in Epic or a similar platform.
- Solid understanding of standard personal lines coverages, policy forms, and underwriting guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain coverage and options in clear, client-friendly language.
- High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a track record of building and maintaining positive client relationships.
Work environment and schedule
- Hybrid schedule with 2-3 in-office days per week (standard business hours) for collaboration, training, and meetings, and remote work available the remaining days.

- Occasional need to adjust hours during peak renewal periods or to support urgent client needs.
