Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist

Precision Pharmacy of Bellmore is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist to manage the intake and processing of prescription orders. In this role, you will be responsible for entering medical data into our pharmacy system, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring all information is accurate before it reaches the pharmacist for fulfillment. This position focuses strictly on data management, billing, and provider communication; it does not involve the physical handling or dispensing of medications.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert prescription directions, medical abbreviations, doctor orders, and SIG codes into the pharmacy system accurately and efficiently.
• Set up, update, and audit digital patient profiles, ensuring insurance details, allergies, and contact info are always accurate.
• Act as a professional phone liaison to clarify prescription details with doctor offices and handle routine patient inquiries.
• Keep a sharp eye out for duplicate therapies or missing data, flagging potential system alerts for the pharmacist's immediate review.
• Keep confidential data secure by strictly following HIPAA regulations and company compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

• Exceptional typing skills paired with focus needed to process data accurately under steady volume deadlines.
• Familiarity with medical databases, pharmacy software, or complex data entry systems.
• Working knowledge of pharmacy SIG codes and prescription directions.
• High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to spot a typo in a sea of numbers.
• Professional phone etiquette and a collaborative attitude when speaking with providers and teammates.
• High degree of interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• An active, valid NYS Pharmacy Technician registration is a plus
• 1–2 years of experience in a pharmacy, veterinary pharmacy, medical office, healthcare, or prescription-related environment
• Understanding of insurance claims and prior authorization processes
• Knowledge of HIPAA
• Bilingual abilities

Salary:

$21-$23 per hour

Monday through Friday

Potential hours may include

• 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
