Senior Construction Litigation Attorney

A leading national law firm is seeking a Senior Construction Litigation Attorney to join its New York office. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established construction and casualty litigation practice handling sophisticated matters for insurers, contractors, developers, and other industry stakeholders. The Role

The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving construction litigation, New York Labor Law claims, insurance defense, and general liability matters. This position is ideal for an experienced litigator who is comfortable independently handling matters from inception through resolution and has the ability to contribute strategically to complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of construction litigation matters, including New York Labor Law claims, from inception through resolution or trial.
• Handle all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
• Develop case strategy and collaborate with colleagues on complex legal and factual issues.
• Provide clients with regular updates, legal analysis, and strategic recommendations.
• Maintain compliance with court deadlines, procedural requirements, and litigation budgets.
• Utilise legal research platforms and case management systems to manage matters efficiently.
• Assist with trial preparation and trial work as required.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active admission and good standing with the New York State Bar.
• 7+ years of construction litigation experience, including substantial New York Labor Law exposure.
• Experience handling insurance defense, premises liability, and general liability matters.
• First and/or second chair experience strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241.
• Experience with OSHA proceedings and regulatory compliance is a plus.
• Proven deposition, motion practice, and case management experience.
• Strong analytical, advocacy, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload while maintaining exceptional client service.
