An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Manager, Indirect Tax to join a high-growth, multinational business. Reporting directly to senior tax leadership, this role will play a pivotal part in building and enhancing a world-class indirect tax function while partnering closely with finance, legal, operations, procurement, sales, and executive stakeholders.

This position offers broad exposure across sales and use tax, VAT/GST, customs and trade matters, non-income-based business taxes, and tax incentives within a complex international environment. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the business, helping navigate growth, support strategic initiatives, and ensure tax considerations are embedded into key operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Indirect Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead indirect tax compliance activities across multiple domestic and international jurisdictions.
  • Partner with accounting teams and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing, reporting, and remittance obligations.
  • Monitor compliance processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Technical Tax Advisory

  • Provide guidance on indirect tax consequences relating to commercial transactions, customer and vendor agreements, new products, and business initiatives.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Support business stakeholders by translating technical tax requirements into practical operational solutions.

Audit Management & Risk Mitigation

  • Manage indirect tax audits, inquiries, assessments, and information requests from taxing authorities.
  • Develop strategies to address exposures and reduce tax risk across the organization.
  • Ensure robust documentation and support for tax positions.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with finance, legal, sales operations, procurement, accounting, and operational teams on taxability determinations and transaction structures.
  • Provide tax support for geographic expansion projects, system implementations, commercial arrangements, and product launches.
  • Serve as a key resource for indirect tax matters across the business.

Systems, Automation & Process Improvement

  • Oversee indirect tax technology solutions and system configurations.
  • Drive automation initiatives and process enhancements to strengthen controls, improve scalability, and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with technology and finance teams to optimize tax-related workflows.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, develop, and manage tax professionals while coordinating the work of external advisors and service providers.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and oversee the quality of tax analyses, reporting, and deliverables.

Trade & Customs Support

  • Contribute to customs, trade, and import/export tax initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in supply chain planning and operational projects where indirect tax considerations are critical.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
  • CPA, MST, or other advanced tax credentials strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of indirect tax experience gained within a multinational corporation, Big Four/public accounting environment, or a combination of both.
  • Strong background in sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and international indirect tax matters.
  • Exposure to customs, trade, and import/export taxation is highly desirable.
  • Deep technical understanding of indirect tax principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing indirect tax compliance technologies, ERP integrations, and tax automation solutions.
  • Strong tax research, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders and influence business decisions.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
  • Highly proactive with a strong sense of ownership, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and adaptability.
