Sales Specialist – Tactical Communications
Location: Rochester, NY
Job Type: Contract – 8 months, with potential for temp-to-perm
Schedule: 9/80, Shift 1 (8:00 AM–5:30 PM; actual hours flexible)
About the Role
We are seeking a Sales Specialist to support a Tactical Communications team serving U.S. Army and Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
The Sales Specialist will support the Sales and Business Development organization by helping customers identify tactical communication solutions, supporting government RFQ/RFP responses, reviewing technical configurations, and managing opportunities through the pre-sales process to booking.
The ideal candidate has experience in sales or sales support, along with knowledge of RF communications, radio systems, or communications technology. This position is well suited for someone who is organized, customer-focused, technically curious, and able to learn quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to understand communication requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Support prime contractors with U.S. Government RFQ/RFP responses for tactical communications equipment.
- Review technical configurations for accuracy and recommend alternative products when appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance to end users and system integrators.
- Organize and support product demonstrations.
- Coordinate material and equipment requests for field teams.
- Maintain accurate product forecasts.
- Work closely with Sales, Business Development, Program Management, and internal technical teams.
- Support U.S. Army and DLA sales and program activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR
- Graduate degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience; OR
- 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in sales, sales support, or a customer-facing role.
- Knowledge of RF communications, radio systems, or communications technology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn technical products and processes quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tactical communications products.
- U.S. military experience.
- CRM experience.
- Experience planning or supporting product demonstrations.
- Experience working with U.S. Government, DoD, Army, or defense-industry customers.
- Experience supporting RFQ/RFP responses.
